Hello all,

I'm running Google Earth Plus right now and just finished importing a few hundred data points into "my places". Each data point has information in the description field.

1. Is there a way to search for information within the description field of all the data points in my places?

2. Is there a way I can restrict the "fly to" option to go to locations only in "my places"? (I.E. If there are 15 Joe's Pizzas, and I have two of them in my places, can I restrict the results to show only the two.

3. Once I import data from a CSV file, can I export it back into a CSV file? I've seen some references of an KMZ to CSV converter, but have been unable to find one.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I don't have an answer but would be interested in a similar conversion utility. I'm trying to get a Google Earth file into Delorme TOPO. Only route I can see so far is .KML->(?).CSV->(GPSBabel)->.AN1 and then import into Delorme.

I use Ozi-Explorer to start all conversion processes.
It reads .kml files and can export to many common formats.

OziExplorer for more information.

All welcome to our Community...

Shortly;

1. No. But it is on the agenda for the next few (if not just the next) version.

2. No. "Fly to" is a general GE tool for global search which can be limited to local search by positioning and zooming the screen.

3. I dont know (I have never in need to work on CSVs) but I have read some topics on this issue. Make a litte "Search" in this forum.

Cheers...

>From an answer from another forum apparently GPSBabel will do the conversion put not via the GUI interface, on command line.

gpsbabel -i kml -f whatever.kml -o an1 -F whatever.an1

Uhhhh,

Q: 'Is there a way to search for information within the description field of all the data points in my places?'

A: What if one had an integrated solution within the U.I. providing the following?

1. Provide an U.I. User Input to ( Search ) for criteria within ( GE Places ).
2. Said ( Search ) provides an U.I. for (Search Results ) for one to select
a single ( GE Place's Location ) from, say, multiple finds and then
after selection is made, ( FLY TO ) immediately.

Q: Is this something that could be heavily used for all ?

Hi To All !

I am posting some images of the Search Places addon that I am working on.

I didn't have anyone that wanted to PM me here on the GE Forum to want to test the 'Integrated Toolbar Extension To Google Earth' that I requested.
My developer friends are really busy and I didn't want to trouble them to help me test the beta of the toolbar. So, I just wait until the testing for the 'Integrated Toolbar Extension To Google Earth' is at a Beta state for the general public to download.

I said all the above to say that I've integrated the 'Search Within Places' for descriptive target information to allow once found ( Fly To ) found item.
I am almost done with the search addon.

Here's a couple of images to view:

I certainly hope there are some out there that will test this Search Places.
