Although the file attached has a correct KML spelling Google Earth crashes when it tries to display it.

the file has a modest size (240 kB)

Is it my computer or is this a bug???
Am I doing somthing wrong in the code???

thanks in advance.

Both the file and your code are fine. It opened for me with no problems, but I'm using a more recent version of the client.

Is anyone else (not living in the Greatest State) having problems with this file?

Its the RAM man.I have said it a few times on here that I need to get 1GB and I will be fine running Google Earth.Hell they Recommend 512MB but we all know the Programmers have at least 1GB when they are Testing Google Earth.

Its pretty crazy now that 1GB is becoming the Norm.

I was Talking to some Chick last Weekend that Plays Counter Strike Online a lot and she said she had 4GB.

Well, I would call it a bug if it just crashes, it could at least say something like "Unable to allocate enough memory" if that is indeed the problem.

But it loaded fine here.

yep but is this a bug in Google Earth or an operating system problem? When I load my +6000 place marks in one go, I need to leave my PC for around 30 secs to settle down but then Google Earth works fine

Im having exactly the same problem here.
I guess I cant expect all the clients I wish to distribute my .kml file to have supercomputers just to see many points displayed on GE.

I wonder how many points are there in the "Keyhole Community BBS" folder under Layers tool. the secret seems to be, not to show them all at same time, maybe when you are just close enough to them, at certain altitud maybe?

Is there any KML instruction to control when the placemarks are actually displayed? so we could avoid showing the ge-locking cloud of points...
Any comment is really appreciated...

needs to be done on the backend -
bounding box can give you coordinates, search for results, and only display if they are within a certian predefined 'this is good enough' number
