I was looking for a way to connect place marks with lines (GE Free) but I did not find. So I decided to learn a little bit of kml and to develop an application (GEPath) to do that. I also added options to change the place names and descriptions by appending sequential numbers and/or LatLon and/or distance between the placemarks.

How to use it.

1. In GE create, in a specific folder, the place marks you want
2. Save the Folder as kml
3. Open the kml file with the application
4. Select the options and click in "Do and Save"
5. When prompted choose a file name and save it
6. Open the new file with GE

The new file will contain your placemarks (with the names and descriptions you chose) connected by lines. It will also have an additional placemark called "Lines on/off" to show or hide the connecting lines.

This is a very simple program but it could have utility for others (not GE experts) as it has for me. However, as I am very novice in kml and GE it may present bugs and unexpected results. I will be glad if any one could help me to test it and/or comment/suggest

Remarks :it don't requires installation, it has no error trapping routines yet - it requires vb6 runtimes files and comdlg32.ocx

The file above is not a placemark, it is a zip file with the GEPath.exe.

Thanks

Greetings!

You can connect them. See examples at my site:

http://inst.wff.nasa.gov/eaarl/index.php...MN_position=7:6

and then be sure and put a checkmark in the little box by the flight date. clicking on the little airplanes lets you bring up more links to photos, or view the photos. The best photos are the CIR 20cm ones. The lines are generated from the GPS dataset and converted to kml polyline. Placemarks are shown for each minute of flight thereafter.

Best regards,

Hi Wright

Thanks for your post. Your site is really very nice.

Well, the Add Path and Add polygon features are not enabled in Google Earth Free. That is why I made de program. Additionally it can generate the distances between wp and the respective coordinates, as you can see in the figure below.
