Hi there

I've stumbled across this group whilst trying to solve a task I have.

I have a list of about 1000 UK postcodes that I would like to plot on a map. I just want to see there location thats all.

Is there a way I can upload the list and then display location in map form?

Thanks in Advance

Sam

Not in itself. KML is just a file format. So its can be part of a process, but you need a lot more to make it work.

Its like, asking can a Word Document be used to publish a book. Yes, it can help send the content to a publisher, but it not an a core part of the process.

My Maps
is possibly the easiest Google Product

Thanks Barry, what else do I need to make it work? Is there anywhere you can point me that would be a good starting point?

If you have your data in a CSV format then you could import it into a Google Fusion table -- plot it on map online, download as KML, etc.

"Geographic data that describes a location must be geocoded in order to place it on a map. Usually the description is an address, complete with city, state, zipcode or postcode all combined in one column."

But as Barry described you need to get the data into a format that can be processed either by Google Earth directory (kml) or a service like Google Fusion tables.
