Hey,

Is there a way to hook up Google Earth to real time GPS?

Ideally I'd like to link up Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S (GPS) to Google
Earth, so in my car I can see where I am at on Google Earth.

Ashley,

Thank you!

Hi Ashley,

On my HTC there is an option MyLocation that tells me where I am and
I'm sure it's the same on yours.

If you don't have Google then browse to m.google.com and download it.

My phone does that too, but... I am trying to make Google Earth (PC
program by google) do display my current location.

The challenge is that GPS is on the phone and I am not sure how to get
that signal to Google Earth Program.

Ah, now I understand. I don't think you can do that out of the box. It
could be done with some coding, on the phone you would need to get the
GPS data and encode it in NMEA format probably GPGSV and GPGGA
sentences and send using over a SIP protocol so that GE can receive
it.

There is an easier way, get yourself a GPS receiver like the GTrek
device that will do it.

You can sign up for Google Latitude, and then get the KML network link
in Google Earth (If your laptop is online) that will track your
Latitude position from your phone.
