There is an opening on the Portland Community Media Board of Directors
that I would like to apply for. The stated mission of Portland
Community Media is "to promote broad participation in civic and
cultural life by encouraging effective use and understanding of
community media." I would like to work to encourage PCM to more fully
embrace the internet as a distribution model. I feel my experiences
with Urban Honking and Ultimate Blogger put me in a unique position to
not only encourage the use of the internet but also to create a bridge
between the amazing facilities of PCM and the wide range of creative
young people who have an ambivalent attitude about "cable access."
In addition to applying to be a member of the board I will also take
the classes to become a PCM Producer with the goal of creating the
next UrHo Talks with the tools provided by PCM.
