= ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT THE CLOSE VOTE? =

It is true that the vote to build a chapel/auditorium and fine arts academic wing was close. The opinions that were shared at the meeting reflected the love for KML, the concerns about financial stability, the needs of the students, and the advancement of our ministry. The significant issue was not about the need for the building, but rather about the timing for this project. When the vote was announced, the delegates could have perceived a division within the room, but that didn’t happen. At that critical time, two of our delegates (one who said he voted no on the resolution) provided unifying words of encouragement and voiced the desire to work together on this venture of faith. That type of unity is a blessing for which we must truly be thankful!

This was not the only close vote that we experienced in our history. In the early 1970’s the vote to start Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School was also very close. Those who remember the 70’s can recall the tough economic times.  There was a serious oil shortage which led to higher gas prices, rationing, and long lines at the gas stations. There was high inflation and high unemployment. By 1974, there was a great deal of economic uncertainty in the world. In spite of those tough times, a close vote led to the start of our KML, and a few years later there was another close vote as to whether the current site should be the home for Kettle. In both of those cases, a close vote did not detract from the ultimate goal. With God’s blessings, this close vote won’t either.

= RETIREMENT ANNOUNCED =

Pastor John Moldenhauer has announced that he is retiring from the public ministry, effective July 1, 2012.  Pastor Moldenhauer began serving in the public ministry in 1975 as a parish pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, Minnesota.  In 1980 he accepted a Call to serve as a teacher at Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm, Minnesota.  He then arrived at KML in 1993 and has served here since then.  We thank Pastor Moldenhauer for his faithful service, and we thank the Lord for the many blessings our school has received through his ministry.  Please keep Pastor Moldenhauer and his family in your prayers as he transitions to a new chapter in his life and as he continues to find ways to serve our Savior.
