In recent weeks there were not enough people at the Friday night services to form a minyan. We place great importance on having a weekly minyan on Friday evening as part of our ongoing tefilot and to enable our members to say kaddish. We are asking everyone to help ensure that will have a minyan on Friday evening. If you are able, please sign up to participate and be counted through the link below by Thursday. Thank you! |

Erika and Gadi Dahan have lived in East Talpiot since 2010. Gadi is a Jerusalem native from the Musrara neighborhood. Erika was born in California, where she lived for much of her childhood until moving to New York. Phyllis Barr, Erika’s mother and a member of KMA, joined her four years later. They were introduced through a mutual friend who Gadi met while working at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. They married in 2006 and today they are the proud parents of Stav, 13, Sheked, 11 and Tsafrir (Tsafi), 2 1/2.
Erika holds a BSW from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC and a MA in Jewish education from the Jewish Theological Seminary. She worked in Jewish education for 15 years at different organizations, including Pardes and Otzma. The covid epidemic prompted her to retrain and today she works as a data analyst for Ex Libris.
Gadi served in the intelligence unit of the IDF and actively serves in reserve duty. After studying archeology at the Hebrew University, he became a certified tour guide. His career was also uprooted due to the pandemic and he found work as the “corona tsar” at the Keshet Talpaz Elementary School. Now he is happily returning to the “field” with the revival of tourism in Israel. Interesting to know As a community activist and volunteer, Gadi can be found working tirelessly to save Mitzpe Tel and Emek Hazetim from ruin, tending to the community garden and compost next to KMA and working behind the scenes on many KMA and local projects.
In order to pay for her college education, Erika worked as a plumber.
Something that makes you happy The kids.
What do you like most about KMA? The sense of community.
Nice to meet you at KMA Every two weeks KMA will profile different members of the kehila so we can get to know each other better. Interested in participating? Contact Karen karen...@yahoo.com |
