The Kuala Lumpur Library Network (KLLN) is a professional organisation for Primary and Secondary Teacher Librarians working in schools in Kuala Lumpur. The network began in 2007 when a number of Teacher Librarians from international schools in KL decided to meet regularly to discuss resourcing, professional development, suppliers, etc. The schools represented in the network follow British, Australian, US and international curriculums. KLLN’s main aim is to facilitate the sharing of the Teacher Librarians’ wealth of experience and knowledge. The network also welcomes librarians, tertiary students and professionals from other institutions who value the development of school libraries.

Good practice is discussed and the meetings serve as a sounding board for developing processes and procedures. The network is a supportive community which offers a confidential platform in which opinions are shared and advice is sought. A priority of the network is to support the nurturing of new Teacher Librarians to KL. Together, the Teacher Librarians collaborate to organise the annual Novel Knockout competition and regular author visits. Regular meetings are hosted at different schools which give Teacher Librarians an opportunity to see the physical library spaces, educational programmes and services provided at each school.
