Hi all,

I hope everyone is having a great school year.

I wanted to share a quick bit of news. I’ll be leaving Calhoun at the end of this school year. I’ve been asked to be the founding Upper School Director of the new high school at the Mary McDowell Center in Brooklyn. Mary McDowell is a Quaker school for kids with learning disabilities where I have been on the board since we graduated from Klingenstein. This is very exciting, to create an entire high school from scratch but built on a 25 year history of success at a simply wonderful Quaker school.

Needless to say, Calhoun is starting a search for a new Upper School Director. I’ve loved my 5+ years at Calhoun and it’s a plum job in NYC. Please spread the word that the school is looking for new director with experience in and a zeal for progressive education. It’s a great place and I will miss it a lot.

Best,

Kirk

Congratulations, Kirk!

Very exciting news. I look forward to hearing about your new experience.

And now to share my own news with our Klingenstein class:

Just this past Wednesday, MPD landed another kid for us, this one a 21 inch long, 9lb 6oz girl named Anna Dwyer Rosenshine.

We are home and settling in. Ian, now 21 months, is doing great, but I don't think he recognizes that this visitor is actually staying. I keep telling him that life as he knows it is OVER, but he just keeps going about his business, pulling my books off of my shelves. I'd say he's acting out due to the change in his home, but he has always done this -- to my great chagrin.

Work is going very well. We have a few Klingenstein interns every year, so it is nice to stay in touch with the ol' office.

Best to everyone.

Love,
Jon and MPD and Milo and Ian and Annie

Kirk, Congrats...that's terrific.

Ted, Great to hear from you!!!

Does anyone know about the Mid-career EDD program at University of Pennsylvania?  Know anyone who did it?  I am thinking about tackling it.

Hope all is well.  Sarah and Tessa Jo are terrific.

Mike:

A good friend of mine, the former Head of Upper School at Ranney, is currently enrolled.  His name is Andy Martire, and he's the Head of Calvert School in Baltimore.  You can reach him at amar...@calvertschool.org.

I hope all is well with you.  Laurie and I are doing well, and little Beatrice just turned one.  I've attached a photo.

Talk soon,

John
