I will say though, that we had to do this project in multiple sittings as Little was tired of sticking the paper on after the yellow section. We put it away and he was excited to return to it later in the day.
Weaving paper was one of my favorite crafts to do as a kid. It was really fun to see ordinary paper transformed into a paper weaving masterpiece! Introduce this simple craft to your kids and enjoy the results.
This "twirligig" spinner toy is made of strips of paper and a wooden skewer. It twirls as it spins and makes all kinds of beautiful patterns! It rounds out to a ball the faster you go. They are tons of fun to play with!
This fun alien craft can be used as an art activity for little ones but can also be used as a spaceship bookmark or for a puppet show. There are so many options and kids will love zooming these around!
Crafts with paper are even more fun when they're three-dimensional! The variety of colors makes it a beautiful craft to display at home or school. You can even make several different colored balloons and hang them up as party decor for a summer celebration.
I might have to try this paper craft for spring! They look like they might be complicated, but the truth is once you get the hang of it, it's about five minutes per flower to make. Great for adults or kids.
Penguins are such adorable winter creatures! I have no idea if they are friendly, but they sure seem like it to me. This paper penguin craft for kids is perfect for little hands and building fine motor skills.
This paper ball garland craft is perfect as a Christmas decoration and it will also look absolutely adorable at any birthday party (any time of the year). This paper craft is addicting - you'll want to make balls all day!
As well as making the gift wrap and cards for your celebration, you can also create all kinds of party decorations using paper craft techniques. Create bunting from patterned paper or coloured card cut into triangles and strung together. Make personalised place settings for weddings or special events or create your very own wedding stationery using a range of stamps, pens, and other embellishments. Throwing a party? Make and send your own invitations and set the table using place settings that all keep to a theme!
At first glance, die cutting can seem daunting but, in actual fact, it is very easy to pick up and get started with straight away. A step-up from using scissors or craft knives, a die cutting machine creates intricate and elaborate cut-out designs in no time at all. And getting into this craft opens the door to new techniques such as embossing, box-making, 3D flower making and so much more.

Hi! My name is Linda and I'm a hopeless Craft Addict. Welcome to Craftaholics Anonymous where you can find all sorts of craft tutorials and creative ideas for your home, kids, and holidays. Happy crafting!
Below we've included three different floral origami tutorials. One is traditional, and two are more contemporary in style...and just as much fun. Trust us when we say that we have the papercuts to prove how much we've enjoyed using our own origami sets to create these finished photos - helped out liberally by our three children!
For younger children, a great idea for practicing fine motor skills and concentration is to create the tulip head and then stick this to a green paper straw to create a very simple flower. You could also use the template below to cut out and stick leaves to the tulip in a contemporary re-working of an origami classic.
This design focuses on the paper itself and lets the floral design shine through. The design makes for an excellent way to add interest to small gifts and / or cards. We use these for invitations and even thank yous with tiny original paintings inside! Advanced designs are available on the internet which substitute the central envelope catch from a diamond to a flower.
4. Using a strong craft glue, begin to arrange the flowers to cover the entirety of the cardboard. Start with the largest shapes/petals at the bottom of each flower moving to the smallest petals at the top. Look to create a balance of larger shapes and then leaves and smaller petals as you move around the wreath.
Take our origami set and turn it into a joyful, vibrant set of paper chains, with enough floral pattern to transform any room at any time of year. You can even add in a flower shape to the paper chain to really give the design impact.
Use your origami paper to create an eye-catching 15m long paper bunting decoration. Perfect for indoor parties (or outdoor parties where you don't expect rain - can you tell Floradore is based in Cornwall and we spend a lot of time thinking about rain?!)
2. measure out your bunting spaces. You could choose to space each paper out by 50cm. If that gap seems to big, we recommend using two origami packs so that each paper triangle need only be 25cm apart.
A great resource for creating paper flowers and bouquets. This books guides beginners through paper choice, structure and putting flowers together. Oh we can but dream that any of our creations should EVER look half as good!
Crepe paper is slightly different from standard tissue paper, sporting a rippled texture that lends itself perfectly to creating fake flowers. This gorgeous garland will look amazing perched on your mantel.
A vital ingredient of this DIY project is the floral wire (find it here). This is a green wire often used in flower arranging, but for our purposes, it will be holding all the crepe paper in that distinct garland shape.
On the other hand, this eucalyptus and hydrangea wreath is the perfect decoration with which to grace your front door. The craft uses a basic foam wreath form like this to provide a base, which is then covered.
In Japan, a common gift is a huge jar filled with a thousand miniature paper cranes to imbue the recipient with good fortune. Well, a jar of one hundred paper stars grants the recipient a single wish.
Next on the list is an homage to minimalist style, with the barest touch of bohemian chic thrown in there. These paper palm leaves are gorgeous when arranged in a glass vase; they look straight out of a magazine!
This project is another good reason to own a Cricut, as it will drastically shorten the amount of time it takes for you to cut crepe paper into delicate fringe. Mount them on white wire (here) and style anywhere!
For over 1000 years, people in what is now Puebla, Mexico, have been making paper from the bark of fig trees. Called amate (ah-MAH-tay), this special paper is traditionally used as the background for intricate paintings of birds, plants, and other whimsical and colorful creatures.
You can create an amate-inspired painting using a brown paper grocery bag that has been softened by crumpling and then flattened to resemble amate. Draw an outline of a bird or plant on the paper, and then fill in the outline using colorful tempera paints.
You can make your own piñata by dipping strips of newspaper into a paste of flour and water, then wrapping the strips around a balloon or cardboard form. After the piñata dries, you can paint it or decorate it with colorful fringed tissue paper.
You can make a simple guitar using an empty tissue box, an empty paper towel roll, and rubber bands. Remove the plastic opening of the box, and make a hole on one end for the paper towel roll to be the neck. Then, wrap several rubber bands around the box, using different sizes and styles of rubber bands to make different sounds.
Students investigate the papermaking process by trying it themselves. Students are thrilled to find that they can make paper and that their product is practical, as well as beautiful. Watch a video of the paper-making process used in this activity.
