It doesn't work on MacOS Monterey on the M1 macs!! I manually configured my settings to open it and get around the "unidentified developer". I was able to "open" it, but nothing comes up on the screensaver; the screen remains dark and motionless. It's not working...
My favorite screensaver ever. Starry Night was on the very first After Dark release in 1989, and it was one of the most commonly used together with Flying Toasters. Yellow pixels blink into existence eventually forming a city skyline against the night sky, full of multicolored stars, with an occasional falling meteor. You can adjust the height and number of buildings on screen, which generate randomly. Very simple, but very nice and relaxing to watch, especially on a dark night.
A common nineties computing myth is that if you don't protect your monitor with a screensaver that activates after 30 seconds of no computer usage, then you will suffer irreparable damages to your screen. Those damages most likely amounting to a haunting image of your Windows desktop permanently embedded into your display.
My only complaint concerning the game engine is that there's no real provision for people who run their system at higher resolutions - the screensaver and game windows all fit tightly against a 640x480 screen, but then on a 1024x768 desktop or higher, you may find yourself squinting at the action. It would have been nice to provide a "zoom" mode that allows you to stretch everything into a larger window.
Serbia and Montenegro, 27th November 2006, Quotix Software - games developer - are pleased to offer your pc something different from the flying fish or floating windows logos as a screensaver. They have created a screensaver based on images from forthcoming 3D RPG action game set in a fantasy world entitled; 'Pompolic: Call for Heroes'
