In Ancient times most people did not use very many utensils to cook and serve food. Most utensils were professionally made by a potter and were not made in a house-hold because they were less likely to have a kiln at their house. The most common kitchen utensils included clay pottery such as pots, pans, dishes, cups and bottles. Bread making was the most common type of cooking back then and they used a different type of utensil called a mortar in order to grind the grains to put in to bread. They also used a bread forming pan, most but not all utensils were made our of clay because most metal utensils were either insufficient or highly unaffordable. Utensils used today such as spoons and forks were also found but they were most likely not used for preparing food but rather they were used to eat the food.

This is really interesting! You never really stop and think about how there was a time when people didn't use any utensils because they are such a everyday part of our lives. At one point in time they probably didn't need them because of what they ate. Thanks for sharing this!
