Myfriend was looking to clear his credits before we MR this year and noticed that the price of the running shoes in the emart has increased significantly by about S$8. Generally, everything increased in price but running shoes had a big jump in price. However, there are certain items that actually fell in price.

Despite the increase in prices, the SAF emart running shoes are still quite a bit cheaper than comparable alternatives. I have been using SAF running shoes since I enlisted more than 10 years ago due to their cost and ability to be paid via credits. I will probably choose SAF running shoes even if I had to pay cash.

Using the SAF eMart system, NSmen are allocated credits on a periodic basis (most commonly, once a year), which they can use to buy needed supplies and replace worn out uniforms, boots and other necessary gear.

Field-tested to provide ear protection against the deafening roar of live-fire bullets, these ear plugs are a great way to safeguard your ears at your next EDM rave in Bangkok (whenever that will be).

You can choose to purchase your kit from any SAF eMart located around Singapore. Do note that some of these outlets are situated inside military bases, which are only accessible to authorised personnel, such as active NSmen. Some army camps also require a certain level of clearance before you are allowed entry.

This statement is especially true during reservist/ICT when we get to enjoy pockets of free time in between our activities. As efficient soldiers of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), we maximise our use of time (and eMart credits) with our yearly visit to the eMart.

Like a kiasu Singaporean for the past 7 years, I make it a point to fully utilise my eMart credits during my yearly reservist. After all, these eMart credits are the rewards of my long hours under the sun, defending the nation. I earned them!

Allow me to share with you some of the items which are super useful which you can get from the eMart. By being useful, it means that the usage of the item can be extended out of your time in camp, to your civilian life.

Wear it to sleep, work-out or to your nearby coffee shop for coffee. The Army Dry-fit tee will never fail you in terms of how comfy it is, and how the SAF logo brings out the machoness in you!

The OCS pink singlet might have gained quite a bit of popularity on social media, all thanks to a group Singaporeans lowkey flexing it. Instagram accounts such as @hiimfromocs have also proven the singlet to be one of the most comfortable apparels for every occasion. I personally wear them to sleep and to the gym!

The last time I did a marathon, I was filled with envy when I saw a couple of runners running and drinking directly from the water bag which they carried with them. I, on the other hand, was stopping at every water point quenching my thirst for the 6 hours run.

I can see how the drinking bag can come in handy for those going on a romantic hiking trip or champagne shower! Why pay so much for a Camelbak water bag when you can get the SAF one with your eMart credit.

For those working at places which requires safety boots, the SAF green socks are really durable for those situations. Complete the look with the SAF ankle grey socks for the rest of your casual outfit.

If you are a frequent clubber, or simply working in a noisy environment, it is important to protect your ears. The SAF earplug does the job really well, having been tested and proven with decibels produced from your gunshots.

If you are looking for a pair of formal shoes at a reasonable price for your office wear, look no further! The Army No.3 shoes can live up to the occasion of your job interviews, or your day to day job at the Central Business District.

Lifestylemart was launched on Tuesday under a collaboration between Lazada Singapore and SAF's Combat Service Support Command. The two inked a memorandum of understanding at Lazada's headquarters in Bras Basah on Tuesday, making SAF's products more easily available.

Currently, Lifestylemart on Lazada sells 22 military products. These include the 3-litre water bag, camouflage cream, as well as the multi-tool knife, which are considered essential military items. More items will be added.

Previously, full-time national servicemen (NSFs) and operationally ready national servicemen (NSmen) could either purchase the items physically at SAF stores, known as eMarts, or online via the National Service (NS) portal.

However, delivery costs will be a lot cheaper through Lazada, which works with several delivery partners, including Ninja Van. A Straits Times check on Lifestylemart showed its delivery fee was $1.49.

"Many of our NSmen - 350,000 of them - have a day job and play the roles of a husband and father. At the same time, they need to play the role of an active serviceman. So what we do will help make things much easier for them," he said.

Brigadier-General Terry Tan, commander of the Combat Service Support Command, said that the partnership provides the SAF with the opportunity to learn from commercial industry partners, citing how in times of crisis, SAF could work with these partners more seamlessly.

"It's important to spend your eMart credits wisely on more expensive purchases like combat boots. I don't mind using my own money on other in-camp necessities as they tend to be cheaper," said the inventory officer.
