En este volumen abordamos un conjunto de cuestiones sobre la Hiperactividad, este decano problema que tanto preocupa a padres, educadores, psicólogos y psiquiatras. Un problema al cual los padres se refieren contando que sus hijos son inquietos, inestables, distraídos, molestones, desobedientes..., y que afecta en forma completa a seis de cada cien niños y niñas. Suscita este problema gran cantidad de opciones educativas y terapéuticas. En la actualidad se considera que tal trastorno sigue en la edad adulta, produciendo otro tipo de problemas con renovada preocupación sobre cómo abordar el tratamiento integral de la persona que infelizmente aqueja tal proceso. Iniciamos el presente libro con una síntesis sobre la totalidad de los problemas que implica la existencia del TDHA: historia, descripción clínica del proceso, evolución, diagnóstico diferencial y comorbilidad (coexistencia con otros trastornos). Seguidamente se exponen los problemas más actuales y más frecuentes que nos podemos encontrar sobre el TDHA y se plantea cómo debe enfocarse el diagnóstico y la evaluación de un niño con TDHA, insistiendo en los aspectos de la entrevista y valoración concreta del niño y se abordan los problemas que se originan por su conducta y peculiaridad cuando un niño con TDHA está en la escuela, analizando cuál es la totalidad de la problemática que plantea de qué forma podemos evaluarla, para mejor abordar su resolución. También se contemplan, entre otros, los problemas que la hiperactividad da lugar en la adolescencia y cuáles son sus factores de riesgo.
