The new post is titled:
Meet the Klamath River Basin’s Irrigation Elite
This post uses government data on payments to farmers, absentee farm
owners and farm corporations to examine how much taxpayer money the
leaders of the Klamath Falls based Family Farm Alliance and Klamath
Water Users Association have received over the past 15 years. One
individual got over a million dollars and another over $8 million!
We then compare those payment levels to the national average for this
type of payment and conclude that most board members of these
organizations are indeed members of an Irrigation Elite.
This post also explains the demise of the classic American Family Farm
in both the Klamath River Basin and elsewhere.
Klamath Basin irrigation interests have presented themselves as
struggling dirt farmers just trying to make a living. The actually
data confirm that the main farm organizations in the Klamath River
Basin are led by individuals who are members of large farm
organizations which receive substantial subsidies courtesy of
taxpayers.
