I spent around 30 minutes this afternoon getting a quick count.
In the lake just out from Klamath Marina, 97
In the river, above the bridge,                   31
In the river below the bridge,                    24

I never looked very far offshore in the lake, and below the bridge I glassed only from my car, so missed birds farther downstream.
Not witness to any dances, but they dance when the urge hits them. I saw some smaller grebes that were probably Eared,
along with various ducks.

I believe the City Parks Dept. has both a manpower shortage and some equipment problems.
Considering these problems, they did a super job clearing out tree limbs that hindered visibility!

I would think out of town grebe enthusiasts need wait only for some decent weather.

Hi Howard. Is there a particular time of day when the grebes are more likely to be dancing?
