Had some visitors come in this morning asking about what types of
birds they may see this time of year in the park. I informed them of
the usual suspects: Raven, Gray Jays, Clarks Nutcracker, Red-breasted
nuthatches, Brown Creepers, and Mt Chickadees. They returned after
their photography adventure to show me great pictures of Red
Crossbills, Gray Jays, Raven, and a single Hairy Woodpecker. (there
was a Marten, too) These birds were seen at Rim Village along the
edge of the caldera.
Looking forward to the Winter Wings Fest this weekend! See ya' there!

Note that Greg Holm, the wildlife biologist at Crater Lake, will be
talking about the birds of the park as part of the mini-session on
Sunday morning at Winter Wings (M6, with Scott Girdner). There are
still some spots open if you are interested!
