Hello Oregon Klamath Basin and Rogue Valley Birders,

The date for the Klamath Falls CBC will be Sunday, Decemeber 21. Please contact the compiler Kevin Spencer at rrip...@charter.net or via text at 541-880-8015 if you are interested in this Oregon CBC.  This count typically has the highest diversity, species numbers for any count on the east side of the Cascades in Oregon and Washington, and averages over 105 species on the day.  There are 7 areas covered, and each has varying amounts of driving and walking. Some are mostly driving, some are nearly all walking. There are very knowledgeable participants who can make it a thrilling day for intermediate ability observers. A compilation is at the end of the day, TBD, usually starting at 5:00 pm. Expect below freezing temperatures, but can be above that, winds in the afternoon, and possibly snow. Open water typically is frozen. But, all day efforts usually turn up interesting bird finds!

And, just south of Klamath Falls, into California, is another fun CBC....

The date for the Tule Lake CBC will  be Saturday,  January 3, 2026.

Contact the compiler,  Kevin Spencer, email: rrip...@charter.net
or cell phone: 541-880-8015

I don't know if you include details about the count,  but these details are similar to the details found on the National Audubon CBC website advertising for counts.

Tule Lake, CA CBC has three areas covered by three groups. Potluck/Compilation at the end of the day TBD, usually 5:00 pm. Owling on Tulelake NWR starting around 430 am. Weather usually below freezing with ice covering open water.  Habitats: Tule Lake NWR marsh/ag lands, Lava Beds NM sage/rabbitbrush/grassland and some Juniper,  and some town habitat. Waterfowl and raptors are abundant. Mostly by vehicle, scoping and binoculars, some short distance walking. Contact: Kevin Spencer, compliler: rrip...@charter.net or by cell phone text: 541-880-8015
