Thank you...that said, this seemed to be more than the sun hitting it a certain way....the red instead of green was present prominently as it moved around which caught my eye. There were two of them. The rest were the more ordinary green.

Hi Mary,
Looks good for a male American Wigeon.
The sunlight is hitting the head stripe and giving an iridescent look.
Here’s a similar photo from the Ducks Unlimited phone app.

It’s possible it’s a Hybrid between an American Wigeon x Eurasian Wigeon.
