Tule Lake NWR Field Trip, January 25, 2025, 9 am- 4 pm

Tule Lake NWR will be the destination for this Klamath Basin Audubon Society sponsored all day field trip, Saturday, January 25. Swans, geese, and ducks, along with passerines will be seen while covering this refuge along the tour route gravel roads. Tundra Swans are expected to be abundant while the very uncommon Trumpeter Swan has been seen more frequently this winter season and is hopefully encountered.  Snow Geese will be there in the thousands. We’ll be on the look-out for raptors such as Rough-legged, Red-tailed, and Ferruginous Hawks, along with possible views of Prairie, Merlin, and Kestrel falcons, and different age classes of Bald Eagles. If flocks of Horned Larks are seen there is a chance that longspurs might be in the mix. There will be surprises on this trip too!

To participate in this trip, be at the Locomotive at Veteran’s Park, Klamath Falls, ready to leave by 9:00 am. Expect to return by 4 pm. Carpooling is encouraged. Bring lunch, snacks, water, hat, sunscreen, binoculars, and a scope (if you have one). Dress for winter conditions as some stops will be standing out of the vehicle or for short walks. If interested in attending on this trip, or with questions, please contact Kevin Spencer: rrip...@charter.net

Leaders: Kevin Spencer and at least one other TBA.
