Dear Buchana Nsenga Patrick,
We launched the 4th and last challenge of this year's Young Innovators Competition today. This challenge is in partnership with the IEEE IoT Initiative and we are looking for the best ideas for new businesses and innovations on how the Internet of Things can be used for social good. Since this is a co-creation challenge, we are looking for your thoughts or information which might help us, as a community to develop the concept for a new startup. We will be accepting ideas until November 03, 2014.
We are really excited about the potential of the Internet of Things as a tool for social good, especially in the developing world. This may involve methods for spreading or expanding access to existing technologies in emerging or developing countries. It might involve the application of IoT technology to issues and fields of particular interest to emerging or developing economies, such as agriculture, water management, transportation, or predicting the outbreak of disease.
The winners are invited to the upcoming ITU Telecom World 2014 in Doha in December this year where they can showcase their innovative ideas and will enjoy mentoring and workshops on entrepreneurial skills. Prize money of up to USD 5,000 in the form of seed funding will be awarded to implement and bring to scale winning start-ups.
