OUTSTANDING RWANDAN ENTREPRENEUR

 

Presented by Inkomoko Business Development and its international partner, the African Entrepreneur Collective, the Outstanding Rwandan Entrepreneur Award is a $20,000 USD prize awarded to an individual entrepreneur in recognition of his or her entrepreneurial spirit and business achievement.

 

OBJECTIVES

The objective of this award is to highlight one Outstanding Rwandan Entrepreneur who has used his or her business to positively impact the development of the nation of Rwanda through job creation and innovation.  This is not a business plan competition, but rather an achievement award to recognize a young entrepreneur who made a significant positive impact in Rwanda through private sector development. The winner will demonstrate both business excellence and strong potential for future growth and leadership.

 

ELIGIBILITY

The 2014 Outstanding Rwandan Entrepreneur Award is open to all Rwanda-based entrepreneurs aged 35 and under whose businesses are fully registered in Rwanda and that:

 

•            Have contributed significantly to job creation in Rwanda

•            Provide an innovative solution to one of Rwanda’s development challenges

•            Have annual revenue turn-over of more than $50,000 USD annually and have been profitable in the last year

•            Are independent, that is, not a subsidiary of a foreign entity; and

•            Are free of legal actions.

 

APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS

Nominations of outstanding Rwandan entrepreneurs (including self-nominations) are accepted via the application portal at http://bit.ly/1nSoR2D.

 

Applications must be submitted by 10 October 2014.

 

The selection committee will review all applications received by the deadline on the basis of their demonstrated job creation, innovation, profitability, and contribution to Rwanda’s development. Finalists will be contacted in mid-October for verification of submitted data and interviews.  The selection committee reserves the exclusive right for decision-making, and no appeals will be accepted.
