The rest is humorless and far too involved in its own lame mythology. The only positive that came out of watching this was my wife's quote regarding the Final Girl's plight - "If I were her I'd just kill myself."
nails the very particular unreality of actual silent hill cutscene dialogue. where each actor seems like they're reading their lines to someone other than the person they're actually talking to. and each of them is in a slightly different emotional version of the film. there are bizarre jumps in topic. responses that don't meaningfully connect to what they're responding to. inexplicably lines are delivered with a genuine earnestness but the emotional register just slightly off. or responses are made in a placid or unexpected affect, so everything feels constantly off-kilter and refuses to settle. it gets it totally right, and i was just mouth agape with joy almost every time someone was talking.
