VisionTekRadeon RX 5500 XT 4GB GDDR6 Graphics Card, bringing powerful performance and style together in one of the latest in the AMD lineup. From enormous gaming rigs to compact cases, this card gives you everything you need to have gorgeous graphics and refresh rates. Designed to be flexible for builds in size and costs, this card offers a great option for your latest system build or upgrade.

My display driver "Intel HD Graphics 5500" has basically stopped working. My computer is a Lenovo T450s. When it is enabled, it makes the screen go crazy (hard to describe), and it is usable but just barely. I can disable the driver and the issue stops. So far, the only problem I've noticed with the driver disabled is that I cannot adjust the brightness, but there are probably more issues that I don't know about yet.

My computer is completely up to date, with both Windows and Lenovo updates. I have deleted and reinstalled the driver multiple times (including old versions) but every time the same issue reappears. I have no idea what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I can give more information about my system/drivers if needed.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, I tried installing from the zip file and the same issue occurred. I have also tired rolling back the driver and using a previous version, and I have even wiped the computer and done a fresh install of Windows. At this point, I believe it is a hardware problem. I have attached a link to a quick video showing what happens when the driver is enabled. Thanks for the help and let me know if you have any ideas.

Unfortunately, it appears my graphics card dying was a warning sign of my motherboard going bad. My motherboard is now dead and the computer will not start. I'm in the process of getting a new laptop. Thank you for your help

Unfortunately my T450S is doing the *exact* same thing shown in his youtube video, and I've gone through the exact steps you've mentioned in trying to fix the problem. It's surprising to me that it's a "general" motherboard issue, since it's particular to the operation of the HD 5500 graphics and nothing else.

Thanks for the video; mine is doing EXACTLY the same thing. It was hard to come up with a useful way to describe it for google searches. It's been a FANTASTIC computer up to now. Warranty expired a few months ago, of course (bought a 3 year warranty with it, which was never once used).

I have a very similar issue with my Lenovo Thinkpad T450. Reverting back to the Microsoft driver fixes the issue but as soon as I update with the Intel drivers screen flickering starts again. This started to show a little bit a few days ago but has gotten worse to a point where the laptop is unusable.

Unfortunately, the motherboard of the Lenovo t450s completely died a few weeks after the graphics card went on the fritz, rendering the computer useless. While I cannot say 100% that the issues were connected, it seems logical.

my one year old notebook is equipped with a Broadwell i7-5600u cpu and a HD 5500 graphic card which are advertised as supporting directx12. But when i start the game i am asked if i want to start civ or civ directx12 for windows 10 1607+ and when i choose directx12 option I've an error saying that there's no equipment supporting DX12. Is it normal ?

as you can see the drivers are 4531. But this panel also indicates that the directx version used by the graphic card is 11.1 and not 12.0 which is pretty consistent with the options proposed at the start of the game. Civ starts prefectly in DX11 mode but not at all in DX12 mode.

the issue is that for what ever reason the integrated card is being prioritized over the ACTUALL card and i have no idea why. doing anything gaming related im stuck at low fps with the small card maxed out and the "Main" one isn't doing anyyything.

i have the radeon software but the "Switchable Graphics" setting is missing and i cant find another way to make the 5500 the main card

anyone have a fix???? im lost af

"Ultimate peformance" dosent exist for me

and "Hardware-Accelerated GPU scheduling" dosent exist for me either

i can provide images but really they dont exist lol. im so lost. this **bleep**s over my head lol. im just a dumb gear head

Thats because my laptop has a Nvidia graphics and different options. Forget the hardware acceleration thing, you don't have it. The computer power plan is as important as any graphics setting. You will not have the best experience using the default power profile (balanced). Just do like I posted and get on with your gaming.

So, my notebook (HP 15-ac120nd) won't let me play some games anymore because I need a "video cart accelerator." On some other forums I read that I needed to update the driver for my graphics card (Intel (R) HD Graphics 5500). So I followed all the steps, downloaded the latest version from the Intel website, but when I wanted to install it my HP said it didn't recognize the file and didn't allow it to install and redirected me to the HP drivers. But when I tried to download and install the drivers that HP claimed were for my notebook specific I couldn't install them either because they don't fit my video card.

To unzip the file, right click on the graphics driver zip file you downloaded, and select Extract All.

Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category

Click on the Intel HD graphics adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to the unzipped graphics driver folder>Graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), click Next, and the driver should install.

Be patient, as it can take a few minutes for the driver to completely install.

When the installation is finished, restart the PC.

I am looking for a laptop for my 16 year old daughter to take to school everday. She has a photography course which requires her to have Photoshop (full version) installed on her laptop. I have been told that this reuires a dedicated graphics card (eg NVIDIA Geforce 540 or similar) to run properly. However most lightweigt laptops only have a "shared" grapics chip (eg Intel HD 5500) which I have been told would make Photoshop very slow or unusable.

The Adobe website does not mention any graphics card requirements for Photoshop. I would be grateful to hear from anyone with eperience whether a dedicated graphics card is indeed necessary. Many thank in advance!.

Photoshop does utilize the graphics processing unit for enhanced performance. There are many features that require a Dedicated Graphics card like 3d enhancements.I will recommend you to get a Laptop that meets recommended Photoshop Requirements.See Photoshop system requirements

Thank-you for your answer Akash. I am still not quite clear because the list of tested graphics cards that you referred me too Adobe Photoshop CC GPU (graphics processing unit) and video card FAQ includes The Intel HD 5000 series which I had understood were NOT dedicated graphics cards.

Please coud you be very specific: could I run Photoshop on an Intel HD 5000 (in combination with i5 and 8GB RAM)? If the graphics card is OK but the processor or RAM insufficient then please tell me what I would require there too.
