Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Theresa and I am a German political science student doing research on the Icelandic "kitchenware revolution" of 2008/9 for my final Master thesis. During my research I found out that you/your party were among the initiators/ involved in the protest wave and played a very significant role. My main interest lies in the questions of how the protest became termed as a revolution and what the deeper meaning of this is for the activists in the protest movement. I know that the term was coined by the images of protestors banging on kitchenware, but do you know who came up first with this term? Was it more from outside the protest, e.g. the media or the politicians, or rather did the term develop from inside the protestors movement? Why was it called revolution, even though, as I guess most of the peole are aware, that from a scientific position the events in the end of 2008 and especially in the beginning of 2009 were clearly not a classical revolution comparable with the French Revolution or the Eastern European Revolutions of 1989/90. I hope you could provide me with some answers to these questions at least from your point of view and maybe you could also provide me with some contacts of other protest activists or persons who could help me to answer my questions. Furthermore, as I am currently staying in Reykjavík, would it be possible to meet with you to discuss this topic a bit further? Bestu kveðjur / Best wishes, Theresa Horst Best wishes and looking forward to your answers, Theresa Horst
