ipv4 and ipv6

i have a irc server that i connect to, it has a kiwichat page, but:

by default my browser users ipv6, the server uses only ipv4 and i can't connect to the server.

if i go to my NIC and uncheck the ipv6 box then i can connect.

my question is: is there a setting in the webchat that can see my ipv4 ip even if on the browser it sees my ipv6?
