The Auckland region Food Factor mini-challenge will be held at ACG Strathallan school hall, Hayfield Way, Karaka, Auckland on Sunday 17 June 2012. We’ve also added a full day workshop this year on Saturday 16 June so teams without a challenge set can still participate plus those without robot sets may borrow a loan set from Kiwi FIRST so there’s almost no barrier.

This event is intended to be a warm-up for existing teams and a gentle introduction to FLL tournaments for rookie teams before the FLL Senior Solutions challenge is released on 28 August. There will be no judging sessions and hence only the robot game needs to be worked on. The action will be non-stop and yes there’ll be prizes and awards, not necessarily for the highest robot game score either! There’s even a LEGO Mindstorms NXT set worth $500 set up for grabs!
Schedule:
Saturday 16 June: 10.00am – 3.30pm FLL/Mindstorms NXT workshop. BYO laptop and NXT set (we have a limited number of loan NXT sets available).
Sunday 17 June: 9.00am – 4.00pm FLL Food Factor mini-challenge.
Latest team check-in at registration desk on Sunday 17th is 11am. Spectators are welcome!
Sorry but we’re unable to provide on-site food however there will be tea and coffee available for parents and kitchen facilities. Any help offered in this area would be appreciated!
A pit area will is available but won’t be as spacious as usual depending on the number of teams attending. Power points are provided.
Food Factor mini-challenge registration cost is $69 per team (includes GST). Kiwi FIRST will provide an invoice for payment once your confirm team attendance. We have a limited number of both used and new Food Factor challenge sets available POA.
