Hello everyone,

First, i'm pretty new to the raspberry pi. I bought one to control my maslowCNC. I downloaded the bundle, burn it on my SD card an tried it to start but all I got was the rainbow screen with the lightning icon, power problem.

Chek my cable, everything was fine power supply was ok so I look on the web. I decided to try installing Raspbian, board booted correctly, screen was ok, everything worked fine !

Look more on the forum and found that maybe the booting configuration was incorrect on the Kivypie bundle, but at this point, I am a little lost on how to solve the problem...

Hi lambert,

I understand that you connect you Raspberry Pi with the touch display. If you see that icons it is because there isn't enough power supply. If you look at the controller board of the touch display, it has a power usb port. If you only give power to the touh display with Raspberry Pi, you always have that "warning" icons.

Try to connect to power supply, one for Raspberry and another to the touch display.

Regards

Hi, Thanks for your answer, i think I do not made myself clear, but it was something that I done, both with the Kivypie image and the Raspbian image. On the raspbian image no matter how I connect my screen it is working, and on the Kivypie image no matter how i connect my screen it simply does not work at all, I only got the rainbow screen with the lightning icon.

Same problem here. Seems KivyPie is not compatible with the 3B+

Same here.
Image which works on 3B does not work on 3B+. Just get the rainbow screen on boot.
Looks like it's because 3B+ only works with Stretch and KivyPie 1.0 is based on Jessie.
It's kinda worrying! Is anybody looking at this? Any news would be greatly appreciated...
Best, Ed

The kivypie image is not compatible with pi 3B+. I've tried with update, upgrade, dist-upgrade and rpi-update and my kivypie still not working.
KivyPie project is cool, but this inconvenient is so huge

For anyone looking for a temporary solution to getting a 3B+ running with Kivy and
* Silent boot,
* splashscreen,
* autostart,
I've put my build steps for a platform here.
This isn't as good a solution as a fix to KivyPie/PipaOS (slower boot, fewer tools, less of a production solution etc) but does work, and may help some of you in the 3B+ Kivy hole!!
