WSL UBUNTU / Buildozer configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

I try to build an android APK from a Python/Kivy script using WSL UBUNTU and buildozer. I followed all steps provided for the buildozer (link) but the build process always ends with this error message:

Oh wow! I followed your link and looks like up upgrading my WSL from version 1 to 2 did the trick! I just successfully compiled the apk. Thank you so much!
