Kivy + Raspberry Pi + UNofficial touchscreen

Hi!

I'm considering buying a touchscreen for my Pi, and I know the official rPi touchscreen works with kivy. 

But that is also quite expensive, so I'm wondering, will the HDMI-connected touchscreen work?

I understand the input source in this case will be different, but since it works with X, I can imagine the OS might be able to route events to kivy.

Does anyone have experience with using on-official rPi touchscreens with kivy?
