Hi, I have built a test app that runs fine on my pc but after converting it to an apk and deploying to my phone (which works fine - I also deployed the'Touchtracer' demo and it works fine on my phone) it just dies directly everytime I open the app on the phone.. How do I debug the apk?

Thanks a lot but I'm not sure how tu use these tools. Kivy Launcher says that no projects are available and to place projects in storage/emulated/0/kivy but there was no such folder. I created one on sdcard as well as phone and placed projects there but it did'nt help.. The adb logcat command works. It gives me like thousands of lines flowing in the command prompt. How do I use this? Sorry for being so ignorant but any help is appreciated as it is a little frustrating not to get this to work after a couple of weeks working on the setup...

Wait, are you tying to deploy your app as an APK created by python-for-android or buildozer, or are you trying to move your code to Android to run it under the Kivy Launcher? These are two different things.

I have tried both. Sorry for being unclear. I have deployed apks to the phone. Works fine but the test app I built myself just dies on the phone and I need to debug it but don't know how to find the relevant logs. adb logcat gives me loads of rows but how do I find the ones relevant to my apps crash?

I have also tried to move my .py files to a kivy folder I created on the phone (as there was no such folder) to debug with the Kivy Launcher but it still says that no projects are available..

More skillful people will tell you how to debug your software. I'll just say that if you app is crashing on your mobile but not on your computer, there is a good chance it is because you're trying to access files you forgot to include on your apk. Have you checked the lines below in your buildozer.spec?

# (list) Source files to include (let empty to include all the files)
source.include_exts = py, png, jpg, kv, atlas, ttf, TTF, otf, jar, ogg, mp3

I'm sure it could also be many other things, but sometimes it is the most ridiculous things that get us.

To filter just python lines:

adb logcat | grep python

adb logcat | grep python did not work, I think it's because I'm on Windows. It did however lead me rigth and using adb  logcat python *:s instead did the trick. Found the error that way and it was indeed a ridiculous one - I was referring to a file on my PC.

Many thanks for all help!
