My kivy app runs on windows, but gives me black screen on Android

Hi all, I'm hoping some lovely person can help :)

I've written simple Kivy app, which I can package and run fine on Windows. I then packaged it for android using Buildozer. It creates an apk, which I can deploy on my tablet, but when I try to run it, I get the Kivy loading screen, then the screen just goes black.

I've had a look at the logcat, but can't see any errors.

I tried using the same buildozer process and tablet to package and run the pong tutorial, and that works fine. Could this be something to do with graphics? Pong only draws a few shapes, my app includes a couple of textures.

Has anyone had this problem? What did you do to fix it?

If I print a few debug messages from my app, how would I view them when running the app on Android? Should they appear in the logcat, or somewhere else?

Please help, I am totally stuck with this one!

The app might not load the kv file

Make sure that the naming so properly.

myApp.kv is not ok. The app will look for myapp.kv  and those are not the same.

Search the logcat for the .kv file loading and see the problem. I had the same issue and Ben figure it out for me.

I think Andrei is onto something: one big difference between Windows and other OS's is that others case about upper/lower case but Windows does not. This can cause these kinds of errors.

Also, instead of printing, try using the Kivy logger to log erros/messages to see what the app is doing.

Andrei, thank you, that worked!

However, now I've got another problem. My app gets closed down straight after the 'loading...' screen, with the following error in the logcat:

"android no content provider found for permission revoke"

Can anyone help?

Please post the full logcat log.

Do you have set up permission needed for your APP in Buildozer? Internet for example or other permissions that your APP might need.

If your app needs permissions and those are not accepted by user the app will crush.
