Kivy Showcase: Automotive / race car telemetry application

Our Race car telemetry system, RaceCapture/Pro uses Kivy as it's primary application for dashboard, configuration and soon - data analysis.

One of our users published a couple of great videos showcasing the app on android and desktop.

Huge thanks to the Kivy team for creating an amazing, comprehensive cross platform framework!

Looks really good.  Can you give any tips on how to make Kivy gauges like those you use for your instruments?

Hi David,

Actually, we used a custom font to render the gauge. We made a rendering of all of the gauge segments, added it to a custom font, and then displayed the appropriate character.  You can see how we did it in the source here:


Only drawback is that font rendering on Kivy is relatively slow - it doesn't seem to fully leverage hardware acceleration as other graphical components. I switched it to flipping textures, but that ended up consuming much memory.
