Well just researching the market before stepping forward. I am learning Kivy and already got it interesting. I think I can develop small apps including Apps which can utilize API and show results after processing in background. Also know how to use SQL or any file with Kivy (in fact this is not different than handling SQL in Python). Still a long way to go. But just wondering seeing there is very little demand of Kivy developers in market. Specially regular job market. I mean regular office hour jobs! So my question is can I get a 9 - 5 job if I finish learning Kivy? I am not saying I can finish learning Kivy but just want to say if I get good grasp on Kivy so that I can build almost any App that one can think of then can I get a regular job as Kivy developer/software engineer?

Or I had better concentrate on Django?

I really appreciate your helps....

If it is just a matter of finding a job, think I'll learn django.
Kivy is funny, but I don't think it is much used yet.

Thanks Federico for your reply. Well what is the reason why Kivy did not get enough attention from developers? In fact it had great potential to be the best Desktop/mobile app development toolkit? Is it difficult to learn? In fact I don't think so. Yes Kivy is complex than django but not extremely hard to learn. Actually it passed 4 years and the popularity is growing. But not enough though...

Well, not much guarantees you a job, but we employ 1 full time kivy dev, one in training and myself transitioning. Plus I do paid work on Kivy after hours.

Yes, it's not the biggest or well know framework, but it's very productive and produces exciting results. It's simpler and faster that web frameworks, but to be realistic, that's where most jobs are. It is growing, but does not have the marketing or commercial coverage as other frameworks do. It deserves to get more attention, but commercial success if more complicated than "deserves".

I'd love to say "yes, learn it", but the truth is most places you join will tell you what to use. Convincing them of Kivy as a noob is very unlikely to work, but showing them a polished Kivy app on your phone might get you in the door...;-)

I completely agree with Zencode.

I'm working in an italian IT company since genuary 2014.
I spend half of my time there working on our erp software.
The other half is all about mobile apps development.

There are dozen of frameworks to build apps compatible with both iOS and Android
Most of them ( like Cordova, AppCelerator, Titanium, Tabris.js ) are JavaScript based.
Ok, JS might be more efficient than Python, but it damn sucks.
Also, you will produce code not compatible with desktop systems.
That's why i never wanted to work with them...

ost likely, the next app we'll develop will be written in Kivy.

Yes I am planning so. I am middle of an app which I think I can develop within few weeks. As I have moderate Kivy knowledge so it might take some time. After this App I am planning to develop a Library management App using Kivy. Once 2 Apps will be in my portfolio I might be able to convince companies which develop apps for Android/IOS. Then I Kivy job might be possible. I agree with you. :)

Kivy is little bit difficult to learn. Specially its Size and Pos properties really puzzle even experienced programmers like me. I think this is one of the reasons why Kivy is not getting enough traction. But the convincing part is once you get the logic you can develop nice looking Apps within few lines of codes. I hope soon Kivy will start promotion and make it popular as it has cross platform supporting power which is very rare.

Ok I got encouragements from you guys. I just don't want to leave Kivy as I fall in love with this wonderful framework. After discussing with you now I feel I should continue learning Kivy. Thanks gusy.. :)
