Hello,

I am new to Kivy.
I want to simply read an image file. I have already given a relative path to it . I also made changes to buildozer.spec file. Still the image is not read on phone/android. If I run the code on computer, then the image is getting displayed.

On mobile/android, I am only getting a black screen with a small white square at the bottom as output

Any help will be appreciated as I have been struggling with this for days now.

My code:

import kivy
from kivy.uix.floatlayout import FloatLayout
import os
from kivy.app import App
kivy.require('1.7.0')
from kivy.uix.image import Image

class MyApp(App):
    def build(self):
        layout=FloatLayout()
        script_dir = os.path.dirname(__file__)
        rel_path = "./images/"
        abs_file_path = os.path.join(script_dir, rel_path)
        current_file ="image1.png"
        img=Image(source=abs_file_path+current_file)
        layout.add_widget(img)
        return layout
MyApp().run()

I have stored the "image1.png" image in the images folder. This folder is present in the same directory as my main.py

#
#    You can define all the "list" as [section:key].
#    Each line will be considered as a option to the list.
#    Let's take [app] / source.exclude_patterns.
#    Instead of doing:
#
#[app]
#source.exclude_patterns = license,data/audio/*.wav,data/images/original/*
#
#    This can be translated into:
#
#[app:source.exclude_patterns]
#license
#data/audio/*.wav
#data/images/original/*
#

#    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
#    Profiles
#
#    You can extend section / key with a profile
#    For example, you want to deploy a demo version of your application without
#    HD content. You could first change the title to add "(demo)" in the name
#    and extend the excluded directories to remove the HD content.
#
#[app@demo]
#title = My Application (demo)
#
#[app:source.exclude_patterns@demo]
#images/hd/*
#
#    Then, invoke the command line with the "demo" profile:
#
#buildozer --profile demo android debug

I tried the .py with the default buildozer.spec  - worked for me on Android.

Unrelated: should always use  kivy==2.0.0 in requirements

Thanks for the reply Robert.

What else could be the issue. I am using Ubuntu on virtual machine for apk creation

Hey Robert,

Solved the error. There was issue with some dependency. Created a new machine and that solved the error. Thank you so much for your help.
