We wish to load some learning materials in the first year students laptop before giving it to them. Since most of our learned faculty are on vacation, I request you to give me some pointers on some materials which would be useful for engineering students during the four years of study (not limited to open source, but non-copyrighted stuff). This is urgent. Thank you.

nyway which linux version r u loading into it?.. hop u try with ubuntu 9.04.itz superb n really fast...if possible customize it to our own linux version.itz simple .u can try reconstructor for ubuntu...u can change the wallpaper,bootscreen add new packages,..a n all...

 

i would like to help in installin n costumizing linux in laps if u allow.actually iam from Ist Mtech NIE(paul s).iam getting bored here at home.nothing to do...

 

sur, if possible install

1) install some missing codecs(audio/video)

2)man-dev pages (will b missing in ubuntu)

3)anjuta (an superb IDE for java,c,C++,php,..)

4)sun - java

5)yasm/nasm (asm assembler for linux)

6)apache/php

7)mysql-server

 

lert me think n i will suggest some more packages soon..
