Upcoming Changes to Snowsight
Legacy Worksheets and Dashboards deprecation reminder
Dear Snowflake Customer,
As of this week, Snowflake has begun rolling out the removal of Legacy Worksheets and Legacy Dashboards from Snowsight. The rollout will be completed over the coming weeks.
For complete details, including migration guidance and temporary revert options, see the Deprecation of Legacy Worksheets and Dashboards behavior change documentation.
What is changing
Snowflake is deprecating two legacy surfaces in Snowsight:
- Legacy Worksheets are being replaced by Workspaces, a modern SQL editing experience with file and folder organization, collaboration, and Git integration.
- Legacy Dashboards are being retired, with migration paths to Streamlit apps or third-party BI tools.
Timeline

Workspaces became the universal default SQL editor. Workspaces can no longer be disabled. Account administrators were still able to temporarily revert to Legacy Worksheets as the default editor until June 22. |
Creation of new dashboards was disabled across all accounts. |

Legacy Worksheets UI removal begins. Existing worksheets remain accessible from the Legacy Worksheets section in the Workspaces sidebar. A self-serve bulk migration tool is available in that section to convert worksheets to Workspaces files at your own pace. |
Legacy Dashboards removal begins. Dashboards will no longer be accessible after removal from your account. Migration tools remain available after this date. |
What you need to do
For Legacy Worksheets
- Your worksheet content is safe. After the Legacy Worksheets standalone UI is removed, your worksheets remain accessible from the Legacy Worksheets section in the Workspaces sidebar — no content will be lost.
- Migrate at your own pace (optional). Use the self-serve bulk migration tool in the Legacy Worksheets section of the Workspaces sidebar to convert worksheets to Workspaces files whenever you're ready. Snowflake will automatically migrate any remaining worksheets at a future date.
- Inform your users. Let your users know that the Legacy Worksheets UI is being removed, and that Workspaces is the default SQL editor going forward.
For Legacy Dashboards
- Migrate your dashboards now. Dashboards are being removed and will no longer be accessible once they are removed from your account.
- Use the Dashboard-to-Streamlit conversion tool. Users can open any dashboard and select Generate Streamlit app to convert it to a Streamlit app running natively on Snowflake.
- Consider alternative tools. You may also migrate dashboards to any third-party BI or visualization tool of your choice.
What happens to existing content
- Your worksheet content is preserved. All existing worksheets are already accessible through the Workspaces UI today. After the Legacy Worksheets UI is deprecated, worksheets remain accessible from the Legacy Worksheets section in the Workspaces sidebar. A self-serve bulk migration tool in that section lets you convert worksheets to Workspaces files whenever you're ready. Snowflake will automatically migrate any remaining worksheets at a future date.
- Dashboards must be migrated. Your underlying content is preserved. However, dashboards will not be automatically converted. Please use the conversion tool or export your dashboards.
