The race has returned to Boise... and against statistical data (the race starts at 6:30 a.m. for the swim), they have planned to do the swim at Lucky Peak launching & taking out of Barclay Bay.
image.png
As a result, Barclay Bay will not be accessible for wind sports on July 26.  I would assume there will be access on July 27 and it's not clear to me if there will be access for July 25.

What a terrible idea! That will be miserable conditions for an open-water competitive swim. Do the race organizers know about the wind there at that time?? Can we tell them?

When the tri was held there years ago, that was always the launch.   It would be best to start after morning wind died down.

Doesn’t look like we could launch from Turner either as the course would pretty much cut off that launch.

I'm wondering the same thing.  It would be nice if there's some way to connect with the organizer and provide feedback/suggestions.
One option is to do the swim race at Spring Shores and adjust the rest of the course accordly.  However, there would still be some wind and probably not as windy as Barclay Bay.
If my memory is correct, I thought there's one time they canceled the swim portion of the race due to strong winds at Barclay Bay.
Anyway, I believe ESPN will broadcast the race.  It will be interesting to see what the wind is going to be on race day.

Wow, four days of closure at Barclay. That seems ridiculously excessive. I seem to recall that from a past instance of this same triathlon (a ridiculously excessive closure, though I don't remember if it went for four days). On the three days that they're actually NOT DOING ANYTHING there in the water, I wonder if we could get the Corps to allow us access around or thru the event prep to launch there? Who's our current president? If no one else wants to contact them, I will! Or is it better for us to just launch at Turner for those days?
   Thoughts welcome,
Betsy

Hello group;  I’ve been out of town quite a-bit ( jobs/ vacation) and have missed the few sailing days.  I should be able to sail for the next two weeks.  If you’re there I’d love to collect hot spot donations.   Thanks

Hot spot anemometer battery went bad.  I put a new one in today.  While there I went for a nooner sail.  Actually got up on foil twice, but not for long.  Website should be ok for a while.  Jim

It's actually down right now for some reason. I don't think the wind went anyway this AM.

Thanks for your work!
