Ugh.  Thanks for letting us know, Jon. Might there be any benefit in our contacting the organizers now to coordinate? In looking at their schedule, Saturday July 25th is the ONLY day they'll be at Lucky Peak, and it seems clear we can't sail that day. But I see nothing in their schedule that should restrict us on the days before or after that. As I recall, in past years they blocked everything off, including Barclay parking lot, and set up tents and so forth, on the other days. I'm wondering if we can proactively work with them to ensure we can drop off, park elsewhere, and still have access to the water on those other days. Please correct me if my memory is off. If others think this could be beneficial, I'd be glad to contact the organizers today. Please respond if you have thoughts or insight into this!
Thanks, and hope to be back on the water soon (recovering from injury, but I'm about there),
Betsy

Betsy,
I just forwarded you my email interaction about the subject from last year.

That looks great, Chris. Please remind me of the outcome last year; were we able to launch on those days other than the actual swim day? I think I have a vague memory of going past their tents etc and still sailing, but I'm not sure. Also, would you prefer to make the contact rather than me? (I don't want to step in front of you!)
The contact listed for the organizers is just an email address: bois...@ironman.com The race director is Jason Michaud, who is a contractor with World Triathlon Corp., and does not appear to be from here. I can't find any other contact info for him. Ironman is based in Florida; Jason also works for TopGolf, which is based in Texas, and previously was employed in Arizona. The volunteer director is Jen Szabo, who appears to be from Woodinville, Wash.
  Thanks much,
Betsy

The result was we couldn't access the water from Barclay on the days that were marked closed for Barclay Bay.
We were able to access the water from Turner Gulch pretty much until the day of the event (and the night before the event).
I.e. you can't access through Turner nor the view point on the day of the event.
I guess if you have a boat and don't mind camping, you can probably camp up the canyon and access the water that way.
NOTE: I've never looked into what restriction they have in place for boating.
The following was the snippet of the reminder email I sent last year.

You are welcome to try contacting the organizers and/or Army Corps of Engineers.
I wasn't planning to contact them again this year as I was assuming it will be the same as last year.

That sounds reasonable, Chris. Thanks for your good work on this. I might still check with the race organizers to see if, though advance planning (and letting us know where not to park) they could accommodate us to launch from Barclay the days before (but not on) the event; but if not, knowing we can launch from Turner means we still have access to sail, so that's good!
