if you save game without bios (dsv) and then start the game with bios, it becomes corrupted and wipe-out all your game saves. The same is true if you save game with bios (dsv) and then start the game without bios. (r3405)

resolved in r3419; the bios SWI crc is used by the game to protect the savefile. our built-in nonbios crc implementation was wrong, so the crcs would not match between a bios and nonbios run, causing the game to detect it as corrupted. I fixed the nonbios crc, so that its results match the bios. the problem is that any existing savefiles created with nonbios will be invalidated since they have the wrong crc now. I am not going to bother with a workaround for this. We'll put something in the faq and release notes.

sir my problem is, i have a save file of castlevania dawn of sorrow in no$gba (.sav), i imported it to desmune and became .dsv, and then when i am trying to transfer it to drastic (.dsv save file), the problem occurs and says data is corrupted..is there anyway to fix it?thank you sir in advance.

It seems that not all savefiles from previous nonbios run are invalidated. I would really want to recover my Rayman DS savefile instead of losing hours in gameplay. Any manual method to make it run in r3419?

It won't happen for every game. Just some of them. Depends on whether it uses that CRC16 routine, which is just one of many options. Can you try loading a savestate and then saving again? That may often (always?) correct the problem.

Ive thought of an easy way to work around it for now but i hate adding checkboxes for things like this. The problem is that if someone doesnt have a backup, then the moment they launch their game in a new desmume, the game will clobber the save file, and the user is screwed, even if they immediately go look for answers. (unless they have a savestate)

The problem is that my save for this game is without bios and firmware (same for my backup). I can run on r3417 without problem but changing it to bios&firmware in r3417 will corrupt it too. Using savestate from r3417 will load in r3419 but will immediately hang the game (unable to create new save). I can do away without some of the corrupted savefile but I want to rescue this particular one.
