This national trend to go overboard has found its personification in the character of a young boy, eternal scholar full of uncomfortable questions. Pepito, the principal figure of many of our satiric stories, has a sharp tongue and empty pockets. His stories circulate clandestinely, spread by word of mouth with each one adding another detail, a punch of pepper to spice up the adventures of this urchin. For as long as I can remember, I've been hearing about this boy who stars in almost all our jokes.
Recently it has become difficult to hear a Pepito joke, and his corrosive stories are sadly missed. Every day when I wake up I think he will come back, that jokes will once again enter our lives, in the form of a naughty child who does not respect anything or anyone.
Madeline is a book series, part of the Madeline media franchise, originally created by Ludwig Bemelmans. The series follows the daily adventures of Madeline, a seven-year-old girl attending a boarding school in Paris with eleven other girls, under the care of their teacher, Miss Clavel.
Madeline is the smallest yet bravest of the twelve girls at the boarding school. She is only 7 years old and is the only redhead in the school. She has many adventures while there, including falling off a bridge and being saved by a stray dog, and meeting Pepito, the mischievous boy next door.
Madeline is hosting a fabulously dainty tea party. The girls are neatly dressed and on time. Then her naughty friend Pepito arrives late, and havoc ensues! A good friend like Madeline helps Pepito realize the power of an apology--a great conversation started for children. This easy-to-read book is written in rhyme, and there are full-color illustrations throughout in the same charming style as the classic Madeline books.
He was a naughty boy who was cruel to animals and to other kids, such as even dunking a frog in filthy water. At one point, Miss Clavel gives him tools for him to be active, being unaware that he was building a guillotine, and he cuts off a chicken's head, after which his chef roasts, grills, and fries it.
One day, Pepito is carrying a bag and is followed by an increasing pack of dogs. His final naughty act is (literally) letting a cat out of the bag, causing the cat to jump on his head. Therefore, both Pepito and the cat get attacked by the dogs. He then is bandaged up, and has learned never to be mean again.
Velma Dinkley: (V.O.) Uh, not so good. You see, Miss Clavel, the girls, and the rest of us were originally planning to spend a nice quiet vacation in Tahiti. But unfortunately, before we can make the trip, she claims that both Madeline and Pepito were doing naughty things.
