Here is a poll as successor to the previous poll that Davide was monitoring and updating.
It's best if it's not anonymous however, if you feel like voting anonymously that's ok too :D

I added an additional section for suggestion to add to the list.
It might be good if there was a way to discuss some of the options.
Some of them, to be honest, I just didn't understand even what was meant ;)

2014/06/24:
added a pro/free radio box so respondents can indicate their purchased status.
added a link at the top to go purchase a kisslicer pro license.  I mean really... it's the right thing to do.

Very nice how this looks! Thank you! I hope Davide is willing to maintain this.

I was searching for this kind of thing, but the results I had were pretty complex, maybe because they were about embedding it in Google groups.
Can you point me to the info how to get this kind of polls done? (Edit: found it....)
Thanks!
Bart

Davide,

check out this poll I made using google forms.  It was quite quick and easy.  I like that people can add items to the poll and also it will graph the most requested features.

I have no desire to monitor or keep track of the form, but thought this might make your life easier.  :)  if you want, I can bequeath ownership to you, then the results are stored in a spreadsheet.

yeah it took me all of 10 minutes to put this together.

:D   I LOVE what Davide has done to maintain the list... but other polls I've seen get more visible results and appear to get better data.  So :D hope this helps.

I noticed someone replied and responded, but I wasn't sure who (guess it was you!!!) hah... I cleared the data because I also had made a quick-fake response for testing...

It's live now - and I won't clear the results again if you care to resubmit.  Then if Davide wants... I'll simply transfer ownership to him.

There are some really cool things you can do to display the poll info as well!

Here's the page I got instructions how to do the poll! and the best part is that it's all contained within google anyway.

Chris,
as I wrote you privately, I appreciate (let's say that I am really happy) that someone has taken the time to lay down something that is more up-to-date to maintain a wish list.
As I should learn yet-another-tool and my free brain cpu cycles are very scarce, I would NOT be upset at all if you decide to take full ownership of the poll :-)
If you *ever* willl be visiting the Lago Maggiore area in Italy, you may also win a free beer :-)

Best Regards

Alrighty Davide! :D I did not see your private message :D where????? how do we do this?

We can certainly share the responsibility? :) it's EASYYYYYY!

But in the mean time the form is live! :D and data is being collected.  And THANK YOU for all the hard work you put in to managing the list already.

Chris, Bart, (or any group admin)
please let me know how to go on. Sharing for me is OK, no problem at all, as well as leaving the rudder to younger blood :-)

Hoi Davide,
We can keep that whishlist recap threat to discuss wishes IMO, so users can explain what they want. The summery of that can be added to the poll by either of us.
I will add the link to the poll in the welcome message / edit your first post as well (if you don't mind).
For the record: what is the age of your blood Davide?

Bart.......48....still got all my hair despite pulling it out because of 3D-print 'challenges'...;-)

Just a thought, but I've been wondering: are all you folks who are begging for this feature and that feature actually PAID users of Kisslicer?

If not, I'd suggest that asking Jonathon to do work to implement your ideas is basically theft of his services, and your requests should be ignored.

I am a FULLY paid - non-discount owning customer of kisslicer.
I will upgrade to the pro (EDIT: I mean the future proposed super-pro version) - not for the features added, but to support the awesomeness that is Jonathan.
I can't speak for everyone, but pretty sure it's a general consensus that Jonathan deserves to be paid -VERY WELL- for his work.

It's up to Jonathan to evaluate the merits of each feature "request" on his own.
With this poll, we are simply trying to help put together a list of most coveted features to give him data for analysis.

No one is saying he has to include ANY OF THEM!

Seriously guy, there're far more polite ways of making the same point, e.g.

Just a thought, but wondering if we could show our appreciation of all of Jonathan's hard work by adding a donations link to the poll?
Something that says we're not just mulling around wondering how we can spend his time for him.  A paypal link maybe?

It would only be theft of services if 1) it wasn't a request, but a demand 2) if Jonathan was somehow compelled to do it, and 3) no compensation was given.

Even if some of the respondents are free users, their opinions aren't uninteresting or invalid.

Of course the theft you could be referring to is if Jonathan felt compelled to implement every stupid idea - and that would be thievery from US, the paid users, not Jonathan.  However, Jonathan is - OBVIOUSLY - a hugely smart guy and I'm certain he would not go down that path!  It's just information here.

I agree. Not only that it is very in considerate to make any demands of him. I find this wish list thing very rude.
How quickly we forget not so long ago we thought he was never to be seen again. If you want him go back into the shadows?
His skill set is very special. The hundreds of man hours that go into a program like this is worth way more than any or all of us have ever paid for this program.
The other thing is. The more you complicate the plumbing the easer it is to block the drain. Just who is going to debug the dogs breakfast.

Hi, Everybody.

I just wanted to pop in and say I really appreciate everyone contributing to this thread...people looking to protect my time (and sanity!), as well as everyone looking to make KISSlicer the best it can be.  I have said it before, and I say it again now, this community is one of the best I have ever seen.

Of course there are people who want it all, and want it free, and want it now.  But at least in this community they are the severe minority.  Everyone here has been patient, helpful, and quite understanding.  Some have even paid for a license multiple times as a way to show support!  That blows me away, and when I mentioned that to some of my developer friends they were incredulous!  When I disappeared for a while that was due to life craziness, not due to the KISSlicer users!  I simply did not have enough time for KISSlicer and for my family, so you know which I chose.  [8^)  On the plus side, I am working pretty hard to be very careful with my time management, and of course doing KISSlicer development is fun.

I view wishlists as a sort of metric for the pain-points in the application.  Sometimes the desire for a feature just shows the kinds of problems people are running into with typical prints.  As an example, do people really want a brim?  Not really...they want a print that doesn't curl up from the bed!  Currently a generic brim may be the best way to handle that, but if I can improve how brim is generated, or how much material it uses, or how easily it breaks off, these are all desirable features.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling, and thanks again to all of you.

Good point.
After all there are other free alternatives.
Therefore anybody asking for more features should buy a license...as it is more or less the cost of a couple of PLA spools.
I am an happy PRO license, and I believe to have pushed many among my customer to do the same.
I believe that a good chunk of the people whom write here are using KS to earn daily pay: after all you say the people from the (silly?) request they bring.

Moral: Jonathan, keep doing what you're doing... and keep an eye on the wishlist!

Best Regards

And everyone should note what Jonathan said... This is a wish list, not a road map.   No guarantee of anything from the list going in to kisslicer.  It's just a place to have a voice about what is important to you.

Perhaps (honor system here) -  a field in the form asking if you are paid or free user.

Free users opinions aren't invalid, shouldn't be ignored.  But the value is different and since Jonathan doesn't use this as roadmap anyway... The weighting is up to him :)

AND to be clear if Jonathan ever asks this to be closed for any reason - it would be done in a heartbeat!!! :)
