The WRF shares some important news below.

Study on Public Policies for Rural Youth

The WRF launches the study on public policies dedicated to rural youth, which aims to identify and give visibility to the tools and support measures that can contribute decisively to the maintenance and development of young people in rural areas and to the improvement of their quality of life.

The study describes some of the support measures for rural youth that have been implemented in some countries and in Europe (Chile, Australia, Canada, Uruguay and the European Union), with a special focus on the Basque Country. It integrates the views of some key actors in the sector and makes recommendations on the measures that can most effectively respond to the problems of ageing and lack of generational sustainability in family farming.

The study can be consulted at the links below, in Spanish and Basque.

Collaboration between the WRF and FAO

The FAO recognises in the following publication the collaborative relationship it maintains with the WRF in order to build specific public policies for family farming that strengthen sustainable agriculture and food systems, food security and promote rural development.

It is thus underlined that both organisations work together in the promotion of policy dialogue; the opening and strengthening of spaces for this policy dialogue to be inclusive - with special attention to the participation of farmers' organisations -, the development of policies and investments in family farming, in awareness-raising and advocacy activities and in technical assistance for the design and implementation of policies.

For more details, we kindly invite you to consult the FAO communication on this subject on the link on the left.

Co-organization - E-discussion: The co-creation, sharing and dissemination of local innovations for healthy soils in Africa

The WRF is pleased to invite you to the e-discussion on “The co-creation, sharing and dissemination of local innovations for healthy soils in Africa”, implemented by the FAO Family Farming & Agroecology Community of Practice in Africa, and co-organized by Access Agriculture, Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA), Biovision Africa Trust, FAO Family Farming Knowledge Platform, FAO Agroecology Knowledge Hub, FAO TECA Platform, Pan-African Farmers Organization (PAFO), and World Rural Forum.

This initiative seeks to connect organisations and networks on the African continent, encourage knowledge sharing and technical discussions and co-creation around family farming and agroecology.

Participants wishing to contribute to the discussion or wishing more information will post via email their contributions at familyfarmingandagr...@dgroups.org.

The discussion will be open until 20 of May.
