KR Post Marathon Social Life

Greetings KRew
Just over one week to go till the Sydney Marathon kicks off with a speedy run down Miller Street in North Sydney before heading across the KR Bridge…. Or as others call it the Sydney Harbour Bridge .
Sadly, that will be the end of the major races for KR for 2025. Although of course KR will still be doing races such at Melbourne Marathon, Bondi2Manly and of Bare Creek that we are promoting.
So now for some time to focus on the social life of KR. To start with we will have a pre-marathon pasta party at Anchor Café and Restaurant from 6:30pm on Friday 29th August. 118 Alfred Street South, Milsons Point New South Wales 2061, Australia. Come along join the excited KRew for a bit of carbo loading before the big day.
Post the marathon we will have the traditional of Marathon Medal Monday at KR10k on 1st September, and Marathon T-Shirt Thursday at KRClassic on 4th September.
To celebrate all the achievements of the KRew both those who ran, those who volunteered and those who supported we will hold the Post-Marathon BBQ at Chinaman’s Beach on Saturday 13th September.
Then on 11th October we will hold the Biennial KR Wine Tour. This event is only $70 for the bus and is limited to 40 people. So be quick and let Luzaan know if you are coming and she will put you on the list. (See event invite.)
A lot of fun and excitement coming up for the KRew, and doesn’t stop there, shortly I send out a save date for the annual KR Christmas Party for 2025 – stay tuned.
Still Time to be an Official Marathon Volunteer
If you sadly missed out on a place in the official for Sydney marathon, or was never planning to run it anyway but would like to be part of the excitement, then this is for you. Please speak to our volunteer coordinator Florence, or me and we will get you started.
KR has a long history of providing official volunteers for Sydney Marathon and everyone who has ever done it has always talked about the experience in glowing terms. So far we have 10 good folk from the KRew who have put there hand up, so join them for a great day at the marathon.
KR turns 20 in 2026
Next year Kirribilli Runners we will be celebrating 20 years of being the best social running club in Sydney. To help us celebrate we want to release a special 20th Anniversary edition of the famous Red Shirt. (Entries closing this weekend)
This is where YOU come in, are you a designer, or know someone who is who can help us design the 20thAnniversary special logo, then please contact me urgently. Voting will open soon.

Upcoming Races
Many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them, I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out. (Both Gold Coast marathon and half marathon, along with Melbourne marathon have already sold out.)
Sydney Marathon is now only 1 weeks away and the ballot entries have long been closed and entries confirmed. If you missed out, consider becoming an official volunteer or coming down and supporting the KRew.
Bare Creek 20k Trail Race (ENTRIES NOW OPEN) will be held on 2nd November. In KR I know we have a lot of trail runners, those who think that spending the day out on the trails running mountains and fording streams is the only way to be free. This year I hope we can get a big contingent of the KRew up to Acron Oval to take on this beautiful course in Garrigal National Park. https://barecreektrailrun.com.au

Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you find a race that has a KR Team and needs a code let me know. Or if you are the first KR to sign up for a race, please create a KR team and let me know.
