Greetings KRew
We are now in week 3 of our Real Insurance Harbour 10k fund raising raffle. There is still time to enter just purchase a ticket or 2 or 3, to see if you can win yourself a free entry.
Tickets are $10 each or 7 for $50 and you enter by leaving a donation on the GoFundMe page with your name and we will hold the draw at KR Classic on Thursday 7th May.
Of course, if you want to donate and not be in the raffle, let us know by making a note on the page where you make the donation.
Our fund raising is going to Stuart House whose mission is to transform the lives of disadvantaged children from public schools throughout NSW, by bringing them to their residence in Curl Curl where they offer services, for the physical and mental health of the children.
One of the activities they do with them is bus them to Bridge on Thursday night and the kids then get to walk across the bridge and back. We have all seen them, these are kids walking in their PJs, who, as we all run by, will yell out encouragement, give us ‘high5s’ and are always happy and enthusiastic. I have never seen a KR who does not smile as they run past these delightful children and their carers.

Western Sydney Airport Half Marathon, 14km, 7km and 4km. Last Sunday we had a large contingent of the KRew paint WSA Red by running laps on the new runway. It was a one-off event, that was great fun and full of memorable scenes. For me, it was as I started my 3rd time going down the runway and seeing all 7k of the track covered in people as the various distances mixed on the airfield. At the end was great to see all the smiling faces and all the posts by the KRew with photos of the race. I think the quote of the day must go to Helena, our resident KR pilot who reps the Red everyday flying her Red tailed Qantas plane around, said, ‘was the slowest I’ve ever gone down a runway’!
Well done everyone!
And it would be remiss of me not to mention we also had KRew Repping the Red in both Ballarat and London! Well done all!
This weekend is the Hoka Half and 10k event. I know we have a lot of folks who will be out there Repping the Red around the streets of Sydney. Following the race make your way to the Hydeaway Café on the South-West corner of Hyde Park. For those who have done the race before this is where we have gone for the last few years. It is great location with plenty of outdoor seating. As per tradition I’m sure we will do a post-race KR photo!
20th Anniversary Update
The fun and celebrations don’t stop, we still have more activities lined up so check out the 2026 KR Calendar. This weekend, Luzaan and I will spend a bit of time on the upcoming events and start to promote the many exciting things that we have coming up.
The calendar of course, has all the regular KR runs as well as the major races that we will be following and promoting. We will add to the races as the year goes on. If you have a favourite race, then let me know and we can add it.
Upcoming Events
Monthly Long Run Sunday. After last week’s very successful long run, we will be doing it again on Sunday 17th May. Save the date!
Tuesday Speed Sessions. We will be meeting at 6:30pm at the usual spot at Gore Hill Oval. It is open to all and if you want to know more details, please reach out to me.
Upcoming Races
As a hint check out the new Paramatta Half held in June which should be a good race to head out west for. They’ve just released the new course.

Another great local 10k race is the Real Insurance harbour 10k a flat fast course along the foreshore. So far we have 21 people in the KR team and would love to have you join us. (Enter the KR raffle and possibly win a free entry)
Next Sri Chinmoy race will be on 7th June at Iron Cove for a 7k and 21k event. These races are a friendly, low pressure local race series that is very reasonably priced, have various distances on offer and held in some of the most scenic parts of Sydney. https://au.srichinmoyraces.org/sydneyraces
Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!
If you want to find some races for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. If you find a race that has a KR Team and needs a code let me know. Or if you are the first KR to sign up for a race, please create a KR team and let me know.

If you are bringing bags tonight Trevor has promised to bring his car to hold them for you. As always please collect them straight after the photo. Thank you, Trevor, much appreciated.
Regarding the bag drop, to help keep KR running smoothly I have asked Trevor to take on being the coordinator for Monday and Thursday nights to ensure there is a car to enable the bag drop. He has a group chat and would love to add you to it if you are able to help from time to time.
That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself, and if you can, others.
Keep running @everyone and happy 20th Anniversary Kirribilli Runners!
