Greetings KRew
We are expecting perfect conditions for running this evening, seems we are going to be out ahead of a massive weather system heading our way from across the continent. So will be a perfect night to come along and run the best course in Australia with your KR buddies and then enjoy post run social activities at the Kirribilli Hotel and then pizza at the KR favourite pizza shop Kirribilli Pizzeria.
A few weeks ago I had a bit of cold and was feeling a bit low with it and I wanted to go for a run, as many of us runners often want to do. Now I recall getting told many years ago if the cold is above the neck then okay to run, but below the neck then time to rest. It was a funny thing that I believed it, but thought I wonder what the latest advice is, so I went to Dr Google and it came back with this great article from Runners World magazine on the latest advice. (Spoiler alert; the old advice still stands.)

As always though, make sure you stay wise and listen to your body, but if you want to go for a run, then go for it I say.
Congratulations to all the KRew who headed down to Melbourne on the weekend for the Melbourne Marathon weekend. From all reports it was a huge weekend with the Red being Repped across all the events.
Also on the weekend, Chris and I Repped the Red doing some course marking for the Fred Hollows Foundation for their annual Harbourside Hike, a 34km trail from Bondi Beach to Kirribilli. Excellent fun.
Upcoming Events
Greg the awesome KR social secretary has organised a KR event for this weekend to celebrate Oktoberfest. It is being held at the Bavarian Beerhaus on York St from 6pm. Check out the invite on FB and come along and share a stein or two!
Next social running event will be the Annual Halloween dress up run on Thursday 31 October. This year KRClassic falls on All Hallows Eve and so come along for a spooky edition of the KRClassic followed by our usual beer and pizza.
KR Christmas Party: This year the annual KR Christmas Party will be held on 15th December at Clark Park. We will start to gather in the usual place in the top park from about midday and please bring some food share and whatever you’d like to drink. We will be doing our prize giving and naming the KR Club Person of the Year for 2024. Save the date in your diary now.
Of course, there are many many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many was think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!
If you want to find some for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. https://www.runningcalendar.com.au/
Tuesday Speed Sessions, every week as most of you know we hold a speed session on Tuesday nights at Gore Hill Oval starting at 6:30pm. It is great to see about 14 or 15 people coming each week to work on their speed and push themselves on the various sessions that we do. All are welcome and for more details please message me directly.
If you are bringing bags tonight, Greg has volunteered to be there with his car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Greg, very much appreciated!!
That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.
Keep running @everyone and happy trails,
Steve
