I’m extremely pleased with last weeks Movember events that we did, and these were, the most successful fund raising events that KR has ever done. We raised $2,361 that will go towards helping raise awareness of men’s mental health that the global Movember movement is all about.
I like to thank all the members who participated by donating to the cause and taking part in the running events that we organised. As you can see by the photos we had a large turnout on both Thursday night for the 6k and 10k options that we held.
Then I was blown away by the size of the groups we had running last Saturday in the 30k and 10k options ending up at The Establishment in the city for an event put on by Movember and sponsored by the clothing company Lululemon!
I’m sure you want to join me in giving a big thanks and shout out to Helena, who was a driving force behind our effort and got us all motivated to run for this great cause, but especially for each week providing some tips and advice on Men’s mental health. I know I enjoyed reading her bit of this newsletter each week.
Of course men’s mental health and suicide is a very serious and ongoing issue that is not solved by a single fund raising event, so if you or someone you know needs help, then please reach out to those around you, or the many organisations that are out there to help!
Going forward, about once a year we will get KR involved in an event that raises awareness of issues that not only affect us as people, but specifically as runners. Also looking at how we can encourage and support runners and run groups that are less fortunate than us in Kirribilli Runners. Stay tuned!
Next year for Canberra Marathon we now have a discount code that gives you 10% off, so use that if you are going to sign up for it. (SM-MEMBER-KR)
Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 17 Sep 23! Never to early to sign up for the marathon and get your training program sorted. I have started a KR group so make sure you join the KRew team!
SAVE THE DATE! KR annual Christmas Party and Annual Awarding on the ‘KR Person of the Year’, is going to be held next Sunday 11 December at Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden (top part) starting at 12pm! Please bring your own drink and some food to share.
Tonight we are back to our normal run on the iconic and emblematic KRClassic course! If you are bringing bags, then the ever-reliable Helena will be there with her car, to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we finished the run!) Thank you Helena that is really awesome!!
That’s it for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.
Keep running and happy trails,
