Greetings KRew

Just in case you have missed it, for the many many KR who have run Sydney Marathon in any or all of the last 3 years, the race nomination process for the next year’s event is now open. Seems we can run in one of any of the next three years, but not guaranteed entry in a particular one. So anyway, check your email for your invitation and fingers crossed you get the year you desire.

Talking of the TCS Sydney Marathon, last Saturday a bunch of us joined the Training Club for their celebration event at Squire’s Landing where we did a 7km run, took heaps of photos and had a few beers. Was a lot of fun and great to mix with the folks from other clubs around Sydney.

Summer is nearly upon us and as we head into the Christmas season let’s not let our commitment to our running slip. It is great that as a club we offer at least three club runs a week. Monday with KR10k, Tuesday Speed Sessions and of course the KRClassic every Thursday. On top of that you will always find some of the KRew at various parkruns around Sydney each Saturday morning.

Coming up in the New Year the once-a-month KR Long Runs will be back. These group runs take in a lot of the local area ranging in distance from 10k to 30k. Always a great way to add long runs to your training schedule.

Upcoming Events

KR Christmas Party: This year the annual KR Christmas Party will be held on 15th December at Clark Park. We will start to gather in the usual place in the top park from about midday and please bring some food share and whatever you’d like to drink. We will be doing our prize giving and naming the KR Club Person of the Year for 2024. Save the date in your diary now.

Many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out.

Sun Run opened this week with early bird entry, always a great way to kick off the year of racing with a quick 10k dash from Dee Why to Manly. https://www.sunrun.com.au/

Canberra Marathon 2025 registration is now open. I’m expecting a big contingent of the KRew will be out there doing it. Don’t forget to use the KR Discount to get 10% off. SMMEMBERKR

The Hoka Half in May is now open and you better be quick as I hear the 10k race has already sold out. https://runawaysydneyhalf.com.au/

Of course, there are many many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many was think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. https://www.runningcalendar.com.au/

Tuesday Speed Sessions, every week as most of you know we hold a speed session on Tuesday nights at Gore Hill Oval starting at 6:30pm. It is great to see about 14 or 15 people coming each week to work on their speed and push themselves on the various sessions that we do. All are welcome and for more details please message me directly.

If you are bringing bags tonight, Evelyn Lengua has volunteered to be there with her car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Evelyn, very much appreciated!!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
