Greetings KRew

Starting today with a controversial statement about something I thought, until a few years ago, wasn’t even a topic of conversation. So KRew Pineapple on Pizza; for or against? I only bring it up as in the Good Food section of the paper this morning I found this  very ‘important’ question got asked, and well at least it wasn’t politics or war: https://www.smh.com.au/goodfood/forget-pineapple-these-pizza-topping-crimes-are-especially-heinous-20250609-p5m5ze.html

One of runners most favourite foods is pizza! This is why after the KRClassic every week we head down to the KR long time favourite  pizza shop Kirribilli Pizzeria (www.kirribillipizzeria.com.au) to see friend of KR, Hendra, and get one of his delicious square pizzas (with a special KR discount).

I encourage everyone post the run tonight to head down and see them no matter whether you think pineapple belongs on a pizza or not… oh and today I learnt why ham and pineapple is called ‘Hawaiian’.

This week is the third and final week of Vivid and we will be using the Vivid Variation Course v2.0 for the last time this year. See picture attached and if you want to upload the gpx file I’ve just posted it on the FB page.

Upcoming Events

Next KR long run is this Sunday 15th June with 10k, 20k and 30k options. This week Tully is leading the 30k, Claire the 20k and  Melvyn the 10k. See you there for the winter start time of 8am.  Remember, if you’d like to lead one of the groups in the coming months, please see Tully as I know he is keen to get YOU involved.

Upcoming Races

Many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them, I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out. (Both Gold Coast marathon and half marathon, along with Melbourne marathon have already sold out.)

Also this Sunday is the Mini-Mos. They have offered KR a discount code to get 10% off the entry price. If you fancy a quick 10k on Sunday 15th June. Use code RUNNER10

But w ait there is more this Sunday with a few of us heading to Gosford for the annual Bay to Bay Running Festival 2025. It has now sold out of marathon and half marathon entries, but the 12k is still open and still worth running. https://www.baytobay.org.au/

Real Insurance 10k and 5k on Sunday 27th July has just opened for registration. This is flat fast event along the harbour foreshore in the city. A great event that usually attracts a lot of the KRew to lace up and get out for a quick 5 or 10k. Make sure you mention that you are a Kirribilli Runner at registration. https://harbour10.com.au/harbour10/

City2Surf 2025 is now open and really selling fast. Latest is that C2S is now 95% sold out! Get in fast and join 60 or more of the KRew on the annual dash from the city to Bondi Beach. UPDATE: Tully informs me that they have now resolved the team issue for C2S and you can now join the KR Team. Please send your name to Tully but is has to be the exact name you used to register for C2S. Once he has them he will send the list to organisers and we will be an awesome team!!

Sydney Marathon has been moved to 31st August and the ballot entries have now closed and entries confirmed. If you missed out, consider becoming an official volunteer or coming down and supporting the KRew.

Bare Creek 20k Trail Race will be held on 2nd November. In KR I know we have a lot of trail runners, those who think that spending the day out on the trails running mountains and fording streams is the only way to be free. This year I hope we can get a big contingent of the KRew up to Acron Oval to take on this beautiful course in Garrigal National Park. https://barecreektrailrun.com.au

For a friendly, low pressure local race series that is very reasonably priced, has various distances on offer and held is some of the most scenic parts of Sydney, check our Sri Chinmoyhttps://au.srichinmoyraces.org/sydneyraces

Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some races for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. If you find a race that has a KR Team and needs a code let me know. Or if you are the first KR to sign up for a race, please create a KR team and let me know.

Tuesday Speed Sessions these are held every Tuesday at the place Gore Hill Oval at 6:30pm. All Welcome! See you there!

If you are bringing bags tonight, Trevor will be there with his car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Trevor much appreciated!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself, and if you can, others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
